Benefits

High lumen output. The HD20 generates 633 lumens in Cinema mode, at least on our test sample. This is easily sufficient light for a 135″ angled display screen in a room together with good light control, or a 100″ angled screen in a room with some background light. Even more noteworthy, the HD20’s Cinema mode still delivers a significant 505 lumens, even just in low light mode. So you get yourself a really vivid image and extended lamp life at the same time.

For content in which you would prefer increased illumination, but don’t need the very best color precision, “Bright” mode produces 954 ANSI lumens. This is suitable for HD sports, or whenever you have the room lights turned up. Vibrant mode minimizes color saturation, but it enables you to bring the HD20 out of the dark theatre and into the living room, whether for that big game or maybe your kid’s video game system.

ANSI Contrast. Regardless of the projector’s 4000:1 full on/off contast rating, the HD20 measured 456:1 ANSI contrast in our tests. This sets it on a level with some of the more impressive 1080p LCD projectors launched last year, but below the more complex 1080p DLP projectors. ANSI contrast does not tell the full story, but it is a great indicator of the powerful array that will appear in any one image.

Minimal digital sound. Compared to a 1080p DLP projector which cost almost twice as much, the HD20 showed an impressively low amount of digital noise. Extreme digital noise makes a picture appear grainy or volatile, and these outcomes can sometimes distract the viewer and compromise the concentration in the experience. The HD20’s low level of noise helps make the image look smoother, more natural, and less annoying than it might otherwise.

Logical menu system. The menu system is straightforward, having a logical, hierarchical format. Using a little common sense, it’s not hard to find what you’re looking for. Image modifications are under the Image menu; aspect ratio and masking adjustments are found in the Display menu, lamp and placement settings are found in the System menu.
